 Labourer officials and members of the trade union KESK organized an action on 13 July to protest against the state's ridiculous increase of wages. The labourer officials who gathered at Kizilay, Ankara, marched to the central building of the president demanding an additional increase for a human life by burning their pay slips. KESK`s general president Ismail Hakki Tombul, who hold a speech here, said that the increase of wages is below the real inflation rate and because of that, real wages are decreasing. He called upon the government to be open for negotiations on a collective wage agreement. The Platform of the different branches of Izmir who gathered in front of Sumerbank in Konak, Izmir, also marched to the City Council and shouted slogans. The labourer officials demanded the increase of their wages to 1,100 YTL which is the real minimum poverty line for a month for a single person and burned their pay slips.
The labourer officials who met at Inonu Park, Ankara, burned their pay slips, too, protesting against the 3+3% ridiculous increase of wages.
