Four workers killed in factory explosion

Four workers lost their life due after an explosion happened at Verdi Tül Factory, near the village Vakiflar in Corlu, on June 11. The workers died by burning alive when an explosion in the boiler room took place and became therefore victims of killing at work. Tanriverdi Holding, the owner of Verdi Tül Factory, declared that the explosion happened when the oil drum in the boiler room was inspected, but there was no statement made about the sufficiency of precautions.
The main office of Tekstil-Sen made a written statement on the explosion in which it described the explosion as a killing. The trade union said that the bosses of Verdi Tül Factory and the Ministry for Work are responsible for the death of the four workers and stressed that "those responsible for this killing must be taken to court". Tekstil-Sen called on the workers to struggle together against these kinds of killing at work places.
