Students met at rally called "Let us smash the wall of ÖSS*"

 Students of Istanbul organized a march and rally under the slogan "Let us smash the wall of ÖSS" on 9 June at Kadiköy. The basic demands of the action joined by around 500 students of high schools and universities were the abolishment of ÖSS, one main obstacle when entering the university, and the right of free, scientific education in the mother tongue.
The young people said in a common leaflet which was read in the name of all youth organizations: "Today we are not only here to see and show the walls that ÖSS, an exam based on selection, has built in front of us, but also to remind that we are not hopeless individuals, but the oppressed majority, to unite the young people who have been fighting for years in their classrooms, lecture rooms and factories for years and the struggle of the young workers` and students` organization.
 Among the participants of the rally were the Socialist Youth organization ( SGD ) and many different youth organizations as well as the trade union Tekstil-Sen , labourer officials of the ESP and revolutionary newspapers Komünist Köz and ODAK. "Our right of going to university can't be hindered", "Youth are future, future is socialism", "Long live the brotherhood of the people", "Cancel the exam ÖSS" and "Not students, but generals should be sentenced" were the slogans that were shouted frequently by the youth

*ÖSS is the Central exam in Turkey, held once a year where all students have to pass to be then located to universities due to the points they achieve.
