On May 30, a clash came up between the sivil fascists and the antifascist and revolutionary students at the Faculty of Language, History and Geography at Ankara University (DTCF).
After Baran Can, student in the first year of archeology, who wanted to enter the faculty to take part in an exam, was attacked by fascists, revolutionary, democratic and Kurdish students gathered at about noon in the faculty's garden. The students wanted to punish two of the fascists who attacked Baran Can, but then the police attacked the students with gas bombs.
The students defended themselves by throwing stones. The fascists attacked the revolutionary, democratic and Kurdish students who were waiting in front of the hospital for Baran Can.
On the other hand, a group of revolutionary, democratic and Kurdish students continued to wait inside the DTCF, whilst a group of 60-70 fascists were let out of the university accompanied by police security. It was said that this group shouted the slogans "Down with the PKK , long live Turkishness, the DTCF will become a grave for the PKK". Later, the revolutionary, democratic and Kurdish students left the university as one group and met with students from other universities so that their number rose up to 1000. Shouting the slogan "Shoulder to shoulder against fascism", they marched to Yuksel Street. Because of the incidents, the university, that had exam period, was closed until June 4.
