20 imprisonments as a result of the state terror in Besiktas

 20 of the 114 people who were arrested as a result of the police attack against the revolutionaries who had met in Besiktas on 13 April for the "Meeting for Justice and Freedom" have been sent to prison.
The arrested people have informed that they were beaten with batons inside the police vehicles after being arrested. Later, they were taken to the tribunal at Sultanahmet Court on 14 April for "having violated the Law Number 2911 about Meetings and Demonstrations". 20 of them, who are affiliated to ESP (Socialist Platform of the Oppressed), SGD (Socialist Youth Association) and DTP (Party of Democratic Society) were sent to Bayrampasa Prison.
Meanwhile, 10 socialists who were released by the court on 13 April after being kept in prison for 7 months as a result of the police raids based on the Anti-terror Law on 21 September made a press meeting at the Istanbul Branch of IHD (Human Rights Association) on 17 April.
Cem Dinc, general president of the dockyard workers' union Limter-Is , Zafer Tektas, general secretary of the same union, Halil Dinc, news coordinator of the radio Ozgur, Sinan Gercek, worker of the same radio, Cicek Otlu, president of EKD (Labouring Women's Association), Selver Orman and Ozlem Cihan from ESP were present at the press meeting. Cicek Otlu read out the press release on behalf of the others. In the statement, she mentioned the importance of the solidarity movement which was raised for the hearing on 13 April and she protested the police attack against the people who were gathered at the "Meeting for Justice and Freedom" in Besiktas to express their solidarity with the 10 September Prisoners.
Cem Dinc and Halil Dinc spoke about the isolation policies at Tekirdag F-Type Prison Number 2 where they were kept for 7 months.
It was also stated at the press meeting that thepolice attack on 13 April was, at the same time, a threat by the state before the May Day celebrations and a call was made for gathering at Taksim Square on May Day.
