Petkim workers reacted against the privatisation attacks

Approximately 1500 workers who work at the Petkim company in Aliaga/Izmir and who are affiliated to the petrol and chemical workers' union Petrol-Is went on a half-day-strike on 3 April in the morning in order to protest the selling of Petkim company. After coming to te working place with bus services, the workers hang up a huge banner written "Defend Petkim!" on the main gate. They gathered in front of the gate and protestd the privatisation attacks of AKP (Party of Justice and Development-the government party) by shouting the slogans "Down with IMF; we want an independent Turkey!", "Those who produce should govern, not IMF!" and "Resisting workers will be the victorious!".
