 Hilmi Aydogdu, President of Diyarbakir Branch of DTP (Party of Democratic Society), was sent to prison on 23 February for his statement about Kirkuk to the website of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
Aydogdu had made a statement to this website about why they had invited Jalal Talabani, State President of Iraq, and Mesud Barzani, leader of Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iraq to the celebrations of 21 March -Newroz Day- in Amed (Diyarbakir) and he had said "We will accept a possible attack against Kirkuk as an attack to Diyarbakir".
After the imprisonment, Party of Great Unity made a written statement and congratulated the court for this decision. This party contains many peons of the counter-guerrilla including Yasin Hayal, one of the organisers of the murder of Hrant Dink.
The Diyarbakir provincial Organisation of DTP made an action on 24 February to protest the imprisonment.
On the other hand, after the arrestment of 20 people by the police at the raid against the Provincial Organisation of DTP in Van, 2 of them were sent to prison on 22 February and the others were released. Those who have been imprisoned are Ibrahim Sunkur, President of Van Branch and Abdulvahap Turan.
