Haci Orman, who had been detained on January 31 in Istanbul/Kadikoy by the anti-terror units, was sent by the prosecutor to the court with the recommendation to imprison him, but on February 2 he was set free by the court.
The detention of the chair of the executive committee of BEKSAV , editor-in-chief of the magazine Sanat ve Hayat and advisor of the newspaper Atilim, Haci Orman, caused protests and reactions of intellectuals, authors, journalists and democratic mass organisations in many cities. On February 2, the day of the trial of Orman, BEKSAV, EKD , ESP , SGD , Limter-Is , Tekstil-Sen , the newspaper Dayanisma, the magazine Sanat ve Hayat and the newspaper Atilim, which are also exposed to the terror of the anti-terror law, met before the State Security Court (DGM) and demanded freedom for Haci Orman.
The leading activist of the Association of Labouring Women (EKD), Nahide Kilic, has been detained after Orman on February 1 and was released after two days of detention in the anti-terror department. Following a call of the EKD, supported also by the Democratic Women Movement, the women of EHP , of SDP , of the trade-union Tekstil-Sen and the ESP, a protest action took place in front of the court against the detention of Nahide Kilic and Duriye Sezgin, founding member of the EKD, who had been detained and later on imprisoned in the last days.
In the evening of February 3, Merih Yangin of the ESP has been detained in Istanbul/Sariyer.
