 "We want freedom!" campaign which was started by the Socialist Platform of the Oppressed ( ESP ) against the terror of the Anti-terror Law was finished with the 14th Saturday Meeting on 13 January.
The activists of ESP in Istanbul gathered at the Galatasaray Square. They told that the Saturday meetings have carried the problems of the workers, public employers, youth, Kurdish people, Alleviates, the prisoners at the F-type prisons to the streets for 13 weeks, that they have defended freedom against isolation, Anti-terror Law, chauvinism, violence against women, interrogations in the universities, bans on trade unions etc. They also expressed that they will continue to raise the demand for "freedom" that they had raised after the 2006 September attacks by different forms of action.
SDP , EHP , DHP, İHD, B DSP and Partizan gave support to the final action in Izmir.
The last Saturday meeting in Antep was organised in Balikli Pazari with the demand that isolation at prisons should end. The action was organised by different trade unions and political organisations such as TÜMTİS, Emekli-Sen, Egitim-Sen , SES , Belediye-Is , DTP , ESP, EMEP , İHD, MESOP, SGD and the lawyers from the Chamber in Antep. They expressed that they do not want the 123rd death (122 revolutionaries turned into martyr in the struggle against isolation) and they called upon the Minister of Justice to end the isolation and stop the deaths.
At the meeting in Malatya, the participants raised the demands "No to isolation, three doors and three locks should be opened!" and "10 September prisoners should be released!".
The activists of ESP in Antakya made a street action and showed a video in Yuksel Street as the final action of the campaign. Author Haluk Gerger made a speech at the action and expressed the following: "They are afraid of the labourers. And they are afraid of the socialist press at most. They are afraid of that the workers, labourers, common people could learn the facts. Their fear shows our power. It shows the power of the people, labourers and the working class, They are afraid of that power." The spokes person of ESP in Ankara said: "We have finished our Saturday actions which we have been organising in the context of the "We want freedom" campaign. We will continue our honorable struggle."
ESP activists in Antakya raised the demand that isolation should end and condemned the civil facsist attacks in the universities at the final action of the Saturday meetings at Ulus Square.
The campaign "We want freedom! Freedom to 10 September prisoners!" continues in Europe.
