The Higher Institution of Police's decision to give lessons on "how to write news" to the journalists selected from general media, under the pretext that some of the news articles in newspapers are in the characteristics of "making propagandas of terrorist organisations", has been protested by the oppositional journalists. The representatives of Devrimci Democracy, Isci Koylu, Kaldirac and Alinteri, those who come together by the call from Atilim newspaper on 6 November, have organised a press meeting and picket in front of the Ministry of Interior in Ankara. The press statement was read out by the Ankara representative of Atilim Newspaper. She said "the state is trying to replace journalists with the police correspondents". By emphasising the necessity of solidarity and listening of journalists to each other in a period where censorship is increased a lot, she said: "Here we are calling on our colleagues who would accept to take lessons from the police on how to make news; we ask from you to remember the ethical values of the journalism and, therefore, expect from you to show the moral and honour that suits to the profession of journalism". The journalists broke their pens after the press meeting.
