Socialist Platform of the Oppressed ( ESP ) has announced that it will fight through a campaign called "WE WANT FREEDOM" against the "witch hunt" which has begun in September and targets the democratic organisations and revolutionaries-socialists. In the statement read out in front of the Galatasaray High School in Istanbul, it was said that "All types of policies of repression and violence carried out by the soldiers and policemen of the collaborator monopoly bourgeoisie, the massacre of people and revolutionaries, the bombs rained over the Kurdish people, the bullets fired at the Kurdish children, disappearances under police custody, tortures and massacre of the political prisoners are not being considered as terrorism, but the just and legitimate struggle of the oppressed and their vanguards are being considered as terrorism".
After stressing that the actions and demonstrations of oppositional organisations are being prevented with the guise of fight against terrorism, the ESP's spokesperson said: "Institutions are being raided, their officials are taken into custody, they have been put in prison with police conspiracies and warrants are being prepared against the people who are on their lists." By emphasizing "no one can talk about democracy and freedom in a country where there is injustice and lawlessness", the spokesperson announced that they have started a campaign called "We want freedom" on the police terror, fascist regulations, isolation, oppression of Kurdish people, counter-guerrilla and gang actions, policies of collaboration with imperialism, hunger, and poverty.
The press meeting which was supported also by SGD F, Tekstil-Sen Union, the President of Sine-Sen Union and the photographer Mehmet Ozer, is ended with the following slogans: "All conspiracies did not work, ESP will not be silent", "TMY must be abolished" and "We want freedom".
