On 7 October, the members of DISK Emekli-Sen (Pensioners Union) have demanded union rights and a life like a human through a demonstration that they have organised under the slogan of "Enough is enough, the knife reached to the bone".
The pensioners marched to the Abdi Ipekci Park by shouting slogans "We want right of collective agreement, not alms", "Budget for the pensioners, not for the IMF", "No to war, long live peoples' brotherhood" and "Killer USA, get out of the Middle East". At the end of the march, the pensioners stated that in Turkey, millions of pensioners are struggling for their lives and all the governments which came to the power until today, have imprisoned labourers to poverty through IMF programmes. 800 people were participated in the action where the General Health Insurance, put in force by the AKP (Justice and Development Party) government which implements the IMF and World Bank programmes, was also protested.
