On 26 September, the political prisoners in Tekirdag No 1 F-Type Prison have protested penalty, involving "the prohibition of prisoners from sending-receiving letters for 1 month and from seeing their visitors for 9 months", against all political prisoners.
In the statement, the political prisoners said: "On 14 July 2006, all political prisoners were prohibited to receive-send letters for 1 month and to see their visitors for 1 month with the reason of ‘shouting slogans without any reason and making noise by hitting the doors'. This is the first where the prisoners received two penalties for same action. They are giving punishments to all prisoners in once, not one by one." They said that they have been given punishments of not receiving letters or visitors because of shouting slogans in order to protest the arbitrary penalties.
In the statement, it was said that the hunger strike organised by the political prisoners on 22-23-24 August in order to protest the attacks against the Palestinian and Lebanese people, was faced with punishments, and the prisoners are not allowed to read magazines, books and newspaper for months although there is no banning on that. At the end of the statement, it was said: "F-Types are being closed to the world. The isolation is multiplied. We know the result of these practices. We did not only see the results of these policies, but also experienced them in practice. The result of these practices was the lives of dozens of people like in Buca, Diyarbakir, Ulucanlar, and on 19 December . Is there a difference between F-Types and Guantannamos or Abu Ghuraips? May be, for now, we are not suffering the same physical torture as they do, but the psychological tortures are the same. It is correct to criticize the America's Guantanamo. But you cannot be silent to your own Guantanamos when criticizing the Guantanamo or Abu Ghuraip? One should not be silent and we believe that you will not be silent."
