On 25 September, 10 revolutionaries (Abuzer Cat, Ismet Kavaklioglu, Ahmet Savran, Aziz Donmez, Halil Turker, Mahir Emsalsiz, Onder Gencarslan, Nevzat Ciftci, Umit Altintas and Zafer Kirbiyik) who lost their lives as a result of massacre in 1999 in Ankara Ulucanlar Prison, were commemorated by TUYAB through an event organised in Karacaahmet Cemetry in Istanbul.
10 revolutionaries were killed in the massacre which was carried out on the night of 26 September 1999 by the fascist Turkish state's thousands of police, soldiers, guards and prison management, and dozens of them were tortured. As if this was not enough, the state later opened court-cases against the prisoners by saying "you are killing each others".
The commemoration event which was organised at the grave of Umit Altintas, who was killed during the massacre, began with one minute of silence for the martyrs of Ulucanlar. In the speech made on behalf of TUYAB, it was said: "The state carried out an operation aiming the annihilation of political prisoners in Ulucanlar. 10 revolutionaries-communists were killed in this massacre by the waged-killers of the state. The state tried to hide the massacre, but the blood that they had shed in Ulucanlar hit them on the face and denounced them."
In the event, where the brother of Umit Altintas, Tayfun Altintas and Mother Gulmez made speeches, there were speeches also made on the recent attacks and imprisonments against the revolutionary socialist institutions on 8-21 September.
In the event, the participators opened banner writing "The martyrs of Ulucanlar are immortal" and shout the following slogans: "Revolutionary will cannot be surrendered", "Long live revolutionary solidarity", "Long live our Ulucanlar resistance" and "Killer state will be brought to justice".
On 26 September, the Adana IHD (Human Rights Association) Prison Committee, who came together at the entrance of the Kultur Street, has condemned the Ulucanlar massacre. In the action, where the banner "We did not and will never forget Ulucanlar" was opened, it was sais that this massacre was carried out in order to put in silence the revolutionary opposition. "While commemorating all revolutionaries together with the ones in Ulucanlar who become immortal for this cause, we are once more recalling that the perpetrators of all massacres would never escape from giving account to the people because of their crimes" was added. The action ended with slogans such as "Revolutionary prisoners cannot be taken surrender", "We paid the cost, we will ask for the cost", "Revolutionaries are immortal, revolutionary cause is invincible" and "Smash the cells in inside and outside".
In the action which was organised on 26 September in Ankara, the participants demanded the trial of the perpetrators of Ulucanlar massacre. 100 people took part in the action organised by Alinteri, B DSP , DHP, Devrimci Hareket, EHP , ESP , HOC , Kurtulus Partisi, Kaldirac and Partizan in front of the Ulucanlar Prison. In the action, where the pictures of 10 revolutionaries who lost their live during the massacre were carried, the participants shout slogans "Long live our Ulucanlar resistance", "Killer state will be brought to justice", "The anger of mothers will strangle the murderers" and "Long live revolutionary solidarity".
The masses, which left flowers in commemoration of 10 revolutionaries to the entrance of the prison, later organised a commemoration event at the graves of Ismet Kavaklioglu, Onder Gencaslan and Mahir Emsalsiz in Karsiyaka cemetery.
The organisations, ESP, BDSP , HOC, ICI, DHP, Alinteri, Partizan, Kaldirac and Kurtulus Partisi which came together on same day in Izmir, have organised a press meeting at the entrance of Kemeralti. In the action, where the participants opened a banner writing "We did not forget the massacres in Buca, Diyarbakir and Ulucanlar prisons, the killers must be punished", it was said that the attacks on political prisoners are still continuing with isolation in F-type prison, 122 revolutionaries have lost their lives in the isolation attack and hundreds of them are disabled. The action ended with slogans "The martyrs of Ulucanlar, Diyarbakir and Buca are immortal", "Mothers' anger will strangle the killers" and "Revolutionary will cannot be taken surrender".
