Through a statement to the press and public opinion, the TGDP (Solidarity Platform with the Imprisoned Journalists) has announced that the number of people who have been taken into custody after the police raids to many system-opposition organisations such as the Atilim Newspaper, ESP , SGD , Textile-Sen Union, Limter-Is Union, EKD and Ozgur Radio have went over 100 and the number of imprisoned journalists rose to 20 following the imprisonment of Hasan Cosar, writer of Atilim Newspaper.
In the statement, TGDP said: "The TMY attack is an attack directly to the social opposition, its` vanguard forces and the people's right to speak, get in action and get organised. It announced the real reason of the last police raids and detentions in the following words: "The ruling classes can not rule anymore. They are scared because of not being able to rule. And they are attacking because they are feared...No weapon has left in their hands except the terror and brutality. They are in a position to expect something from the police conspiracies".
TGDP, who calls on all journalists, writers and press agencies and institutions to take united attitude against the attacks, ends its statement with slogans: "TMY Should Be Abandoned", "End the Detention and Imprisonment Terror" and "Freedom for Imprisoned Journalists".
