The year of 2005 represented a year where the contradictions among imperialists continued to be deepening and become more comprehensive. Steps with the purpose of re-sharing of the world particularly between the USA, EU, Russia and China began to take shape. Through its "coloured" revolutions, "deep" organisation such as GUAM, military and economic presence in Georgia, Turkey, Afghanistan and Central Asian countries, the USA tries to keep distanced the Russia, China and EU from Caucasus, Central Asia and Middle East. On the contrary of the situation, other imperialist centres of rivalry do not remain silent. In the frames of "Shanghai Organisation", Russia and China try to resist the geo-politics of the American imperialism for the world hegemony. Moreover, the EU under the leadership of imperialist countries especially like Germany and France is competing against the American hegemony in Balkans, the Mediterranean region (so in the Middle East) and the North Sea basin.

For the American imperialism, the year of 2005 represents a year of defeat: the Iraqi resistance has shown that the American imperialism is not capable of everything and it can be defeated. For now, the Greater Middle Eastern Project (GMEP) became irrelevant. Whilst the Iraqi and Palestinian resistances in the Middle East and the attitudes of Latin American countries like Venezuela and Cuba have given blows to the American hegemony, they at the same time advanced the anti-imperialist struggle in the world scale and become a source of strength for the ones struggling against exploitation, plunder and occupation.

The migrants' revolt exploded against the neo-liberal policies, racist and discriminatory practices of the French imperialism was one of the actions that left remarks. While the USA has shown that it violates all forms of laws and rules in the world by the exhibition of its secret prisons in many countries and the CIA airplanes' kidnapping of people, it also faces more and more with the peoples' anger and reaction.

As it happened in the world, the year of 2005 in our country too become a year where tough struggles had continued between bourgeoisie and working class, mutual defeats and victories were experienced. We left behind a year where the fascist dictatorship had difficulties in many fronts, but at the same time had developed its relations on the international arena, as seen in its start of negotiations for the EU-membership on October the 3rd.

The dictatorship, whose relations with the American imperialism were interrupted after the refusal of the 1st March 2003 Bill (the bill was giving right to the USA to use country's lands during their war against Iraq) in the Turkish National Assembly, continued also throughout the year of 2005 with serving the American imperialism's interests of world hegemony, and they restarted to talk on the "strategic partnership". We can see how deepened and become comprehensive the Turk-American relations from the visits of the Chair of FBI, R. Mueller, the Chief of CIA, P. Goss and the General Secretary of NATO, J. De Hoop Schefeer.

During whole period of 2005, the dictatorship -through the government of AKP (Justice and Development Party)- showed its commitment in implementing neo-liberal policies imposed by the imperialist institutions such as IMF and in marketing homeland under the name of privatisation, at first the public enterprises like SEKA, Seydisehir, Erdemir, Tupras, Petkim, Telecom and Dockyards.

Although the intervention of communists and revolutionaries was limited, their method of intervention was singular and spontaneous, the year of 2005 become a scene for the magnificent resistances of the working class against the attacks. Different sections of the class went beyond the traditional methods of struggle by overcoming the traitorous line imposed by unions and by getting support from families and the people. Time to time they clashed with the security forces (Police, Gendarmerie, etc.) of the state, blocked the roads and defended their workplaces by occupying the factories. There were a certain level of militancy and development in the struggle of the working class.

The "Worker Assemblies" -organised by the efforts of Marxist Leninist Communists at the beginning of 2005 in the large provinces like Istanbul, Izmir, Adana, Bursa and attended by hundreds of workers- become platforms where the problems of the working class and, in general, the social problems were discussed, the workers had freely expressed their views, and where the ways of organised struggle and of overcoming the working class's singular and spon-taneous struggle were searched for. As a result of the activity, the "Worker Unions" have been established in many places.

In 2005, we witnessed the demolition of shanty houses of the poor people living in the suburbs under the name of "Rural Transformation Project" of the AKP government. But the demolitions were not easy as AKP government predicted. The poor people of suburbs resisted against demolitions and defended their houses in many cities, at first, in Istanbul by the intervention of Marxist Leninist Communists. The people in suburbs suffered from the demolition assault have come together in the defence committees against the state attacks.

The struggle for enlightening and organising the toiling women that continued widespread throughout the country by EKB (Toiling Women's Union) has received response among the toiling women masses. Women have played an important role in the fight against the privatisation and the demolition of shanty houses.

And the student youth, while on the one hand continued with their activity to raise its organisation level, on the other hand, they tried to unite their struggle in the line of demands for a scientific, free, democratic education with the struggle against the fascist dictatorship's chauvinist attacks and lynch attempts.

The year of 2005 has also become a year where the fascist dictatorship tried to strengthen its concept of total annihilation and suppression in order to "finish" the revolutionary movement and the Kurdish national struggle through some regulations, creating psychological atmosphere; promoting chauvinism, directing lynch attempts, organising media and, at the same time, by saying "I am struggling against the international terrorism".

In 2005, in the face of the Turkish state's and imperialists' searches for non- PKK and non-Ocalan solution, the national movement have raised the demand of democratic and cultural rights on the basis of there cannot be a solution without Ocalan. But the dictatorship insisted in its policy of denial and suppression. It incited lynching attempts against the Kurdish people by instigating nationalism and chauvinism. By the massive Newroz celebrations and recently their protests against the state's counter-guerrilla attack which came to clear in Semdinli , the Kurdish people have shown that, in spite of all attacks, they did not loose much from their dynamism and will not bow their heads to the annihilation attacks of the state.

As a socialist institution of culture, BEKSAV carried the Kurdish people's desire for brotherhood to the Turkish workers and toilers in the west by organising a panel in Istanbul and participated by witnesses from Semdinli.

The state attacks with the purpose of surrendering the revolutionary prisoners through isolation in prisons have continued both on the level of legal regulations and in the very practice itself. However the revolutionary prisoners continued with their struggle under the conditions of heavy solitary confinement. Their struggle also increased outside the prisons by the support of communists, revolutionaries and relatives of prisoners under the slogan "Stop the Isolation from Imrali to F-Type Prisons".

The occupation of Iraq and, in general, the fight against imperialism has continued to be the main agenda of the society, revolutionary and communist movement. In this meaning, the communist and revolutionary movement in Turkey have shown a characteristic of being a dynamic movement throughout the world in proclaiming the Iraqi and Palestinian resistances and the Kurdish national struggle.

The fight for revolution and socialism cannot only be conducted during the certain historical dates of the year; this struggle is conducted with an ongoing resistance against the attacks on the working class, toilers and Kurdish people, and with a language that fascist dictatorship understands.

We left behind a year where Marxist Leninist Communists have ensured successes in putting in practice of many different methods of struggle at a time and carried out in success the actions that include mass violence and revolutionary violence.

MLCP Kurdistan Section has also shown an important will power in the fight for enlightening the working class of Kurdistan with the light of Marxism-Leninism through its 1st Kurdistan Conference organised in the year we left behind.
