The celebration in Qamislo was held in Himo, under the slogan Let's Grow the Struggle under the leadership of Leyla Güven, Let's Live Free with leader Apo". Along with thousands of women from different parts of the Cizire cantone, Kongreya Star, JKŞ, SYPG ( Institution for the Solidarity and the Unity of the Peoples), PYD, Syria Women's Assembly, Syriac Women's Assembly and YPJ & QSD fighters participated to the ceremony.

The JKŞ members entered the ceremony with their banners greeting the Women's Strike and Leyla Güven's resistance, as well as slogans cheering "Women, Life, Resistance!"

The celebration started with a minute of silence and followed by an audio of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, speaking on 8 March and women's struggle.

Asya Abdullah, member of Kongreya Star Coordination, took the floor by celebrating the 8 March of all women fighters in war trenches, resisting and fighting against the terror. Pointing out the emancipation of Efrin, Abdullah continued " The women of Efrin are resisting against the fascist Turkish state, in order to go back to Efrin. No matter how they are far away from their lands, they continue to celebrate the International Women's Day. Next year, together with the women of Efrin, we will all celebrate the 8th of March in Efrin!"

Jasmine Azad, who spoke on behalf of the Jinen Communist's Şoreşger (JKŞ), began her speech by saluting the women who had left the struggle legacy of 8 march, saying " We, as the communist women, are saluting the "8 March Women's Strike" with the spirit of women from New York who had created this day, the spirit of Clara Zetkin, Rosa Luxemburg, as well as comrades Arin, Sarya, Avesta, Raperin, Destan and Berçem. Today, women are creating a free life against the patriarchal mentality in the Middle East; from Rojava, Northern and Eastern Syria to Turkey Yemen, Tunus, Egypt, Sudan"

Pointing out that Rojava revolution had become a women revolution by Kurdish, Arabic, Syriac and Turkmen women, Azad stated as follows:

"The Turkish state and the imperialists seek to break our revolutionary will. But our will and strength had burst the enemy's bubble in Northern and Eastern Syria. The defeat of ISIS gangs is achieved by the will and power of women. This success belongs to all resisting women and our martyrs. We congratulate QSD, YPG, YPJ and the communist forces for this great victory. (...) As JKŞ, we say this again: just as how we had defended our revolution with the spirit of our comrades Ivana Hoffmann, Raperin, Destan and Sarya, we will continue to defend the women revolution against the occupying forces. Our call is to all laborer women; women must be organized for their lands, their honor and future. Here we call also to the world women, to voice the hunger strike of Leyla Güven, who has been resisting to break the absolute isolation over the Kurdish peoples' leader Abdullah Öcalan. To claim the action of Leyla Güven means to claim the women will."
