The commander of the MLKP, who was immortalized in the Kobanê resistance in 2014, Sibel Bulut (Sarya Özgür) was commemorated at the ceremony held by the People's Unity and Solidarity Institute (SYPG). The ceremony took place in the street in Kobanê, where the name of Sarya Bulut was given.

The ceremony was attended by the families of the Martyrs' Families Institution, the administerers of the Kobanê canton, the co-chair of the Kobanê Defense Council, İsmet Şêx Hesen, MLKP and KKÖ members and the people of Kobanê.

The commemoration began with a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs of the revolution. Then the institutions participating in the ceremony made a speech. Speaking on behalf of the Kobanê canton co-chair Mustafa Eto, "ISIS gangs attacked Kobanê, they did not guess that this place is the city of resistance. They didn't think that revolutionaries like Sarya would defend here."

In his speech on behalf of the MLKP, "I bow to the memory of the martyrs who fought for all freedom and socialism. I commemorate all the martyrs of the revolution, in the name of Commander Sarya. Commander Sarya taught us, the young women how to fight and command. Thousands of young women have shown their way to an honorable and free life, and today all the revolutionaries, in particular the commitment of the revolutionary young women to the martyrs, is to be the continuation of the free and honorable life they have opened. ISIS gangs were attacked today by their owners, the fascist colonial Turkish state, and thus the task of all of us for the working-laborers for the oppressed peoples, for the specificity of women, the values of our martyrs, we must defend to realize their dreams. This is the urgent task of all of us."
