 Middle East Technical University, which has an important tradition of student youth movement in Turkey, had its graduation ceremony of this year, and once again it was the scene of protests against Erdoğan and the rector appointed by Erdoğan. The students carried out their actions by upholding various banners and placards and by shouting slogans during the parade.


The private security officers attacked to the students during the protest and the slogans were being cried out at the ceremony with the banner "Verşan Kök can not be the rector of METU". The other students and the families in the ceremony participated in the protest.
However, the next day, 3 of the students carrying banners were taken into custody due to insulting Erdoğan. On the same day, another student was also taken into custody with the complaint of the rector. It is stated that 12 of the protestors were given in a list to the police by the METU's appointed rector. Among the detainees are the chairman of the METU Student Council and the LGBTI activist.
