When the regime's unmanageability crisis turned into a bloody confrontation of power on July 15, an unsuccessful coup attempt was made, and then on July 20, 2016, a state of emergency was declared. After the June 24th elections it was announced that the OHAL (state of emergency) will not be extended once again. In the state of emergency, the country was governed through Erdoğan's statutory decrees and there were many practices against the Constitution, including the arrest of HDP deputies.

Erdoğan published the last KHK (decree) of the OHAL yesterday, which was declared to end on July 18. However, even if the OHAL will end, the KHKs up to now will remain valid. The powers of the president and the government under OHAL will become permanent with the new presidential system.

With the last KHK, 18 thousand 632 people were expelled from their work. There are thousands of army and security forces among them. In addition, 3 newspapers and 12 associations were closed with this KHK. Also, 19 of the academicians calling for peace against the war carried out by the state in Kurdistan, saying "We will not be part of this crime," were dismissd with this KHK. Thus, a total of 516 peace academicians have been dismissed so far.
