The arrest wave against the press continues. Once again, journalists were arrested in Istanbul. Three editors of the socialist news agency Etkin (Etha), including a correspondent on vacation, were arrested during an operation in the night of April 13. The reasons for the arrests are unknown. Etha declared in a press conference:"Etkin Haber Agency belongs to the socialist media tradition that newer bows down before governments. It is the trench comrade of the free Kurdish media, which was not silenced even by bullets. We are devoted to a tradition that never surrenders, never gives up its mission of conveying the truth to the peoples. We did not bow down before the governments prior to the AKP . Nor will we surrender to the AKP! Governments are temporary. What remains is the truth and its followers. We will make it to tomorrow. We are firmly determined to defy this latest wave of repression by Erdoğan and the AKP through the solidarity of the oppressed"

Even in the end of March  the printing house of the only Kurdish-language daily Welat was searched by police and the printers were arrested. At the same time new operators were appointed by order of the "Palace"- dictatorship. After all surrounding printing companies were intimidated and threatened, no alternative printing company could be found. From now on, Welat will only publish online.
