As the war of aggression against Afrin continues, any voices against the war are suppressed. Members and activists of the HDP become arrested. Buildings and offices of HDP are attacked and set on fire. On January 28, fascists in Istanbul set fire to Pendik's HDP office. Although there were video footage of the crime, the 11 detained attackers were released on allegedly missing evidence. This resolution paves the way for further attacks against democratic institutions. In addition, the police prevented HDP protests against the fascist attack. HDP members gathered the day after the attack before the office and were surrounded by armored vehicles and a large number of police officers. The protest was immediately disbanded by the police when HDP MP Erdal Ataş condemned the aggressive war in Afrin.
